Cameras and the shutter
Front, rear or a connected camera — and what guests see at the moment the photo is taken.
The booth can shoot on the iPad’s own cameras or a connected camera. Which you choose changes both the picture quality and how guests behave in front of it.
Choose the source
- Open the event, then SettingsCaptureCamera.
- Set Source. The front camera suits a phones-up crowd, because guests can see themselves. A connected camera is for print quality.
Using a connected camera
Connected camera is a Pro plan feature. On other plans the setting is visible but reads “your plan uses the iPad’s own cameras”, so you can see what it does before deciding it is worth the upgrade.
Plug the camera into the iPad and select it as the source. Bear in mind the iPad has one port: if you are also running a USB printer bridge or charging through the day, you will want a powered hub.
Mirroring
Mirror preview shows guests their reflection, which is what they expect — everyone is used to a mirror, not a photograph, and an unmirrored preview makes people feel subtly wrong.
Telling guests the shutter fired
- Capture cue — the word shown inside the countdown ring at the moment the photo is taken.
- Flash on capture — flashes a white frame at the shutter instead of the cue text. Better in a dark venue, where it also throws a little light on faces.
