Lock the iPad for guests

Kiosk mode keeps guests inside the booth. Guided Access takes it further.

The booth runs on the same iPad as your operator screens. Kiosk mode is what stops a guest wandering out of the booth and into your event list.

Turn it on

  1. Open SettingsKiosk & security.
  2. Switch Kiosk mode on. It applies to every event this iPad runs, not just the current one.

With it on, the only way out of the booth is the hidden corner — see Exit the booth — and the iPad’s home and Control Center swipes need a second, deliberate swipe, so a guest reaching for a photo does not drop out to the home screen.

Guided Access, for a real lock

Kiosk mode is Fotova holding the door. Guided Access is iOS locking it — a determined guest cannot leave the app at all, and it is what we recommend for any event where the iPad is out of your sight.

  1. In iOS Settings, go to AccessibilityGuided Access and turn it on. Set a passcode you will remember.
  2. Open Fotova, start the booth, then triple-click the top button to begin a Guided Access session.
  3. Triple-click again and enter that passcode to end it.
