Nudge the print into position

If every print lands off-center on the paper, shift it across or down until it sits right.

Sometimes every print lands in the same wrong place — shifted a few millimetres left, or sitting low on the paper — while the strip itself is the right size. That is a registration problem, not a scaling one, and it has its own two settings.

Set it

  1. Open SettingsThis devicePrint fleet and find your printer.
  2. Nudge across and Nudge down sit on that printer’s own row, under edge compensation. Both step in 0.5 mm and both go negative, up to 10 mm either way.
  3. Measure the drift on a printed sheet with a ruler and dial in that many millimetres.

Which way is which

Change one axis, then run a test print and look at the sheet. If it moved the wrong way, use the same number negative. That is faster than reasoning it out, and it is reliable on any printer: the paper can be loaded either way round, and a landscape sheet is rotated on its way to the printer, so “down” on screen is not always down on the paper in your hand.

Do the two axes one at a time. Changing both and printing once tells you the result moved, not which setting moved it.

What it does not touch

This is a property of the printer, not of your design. It is saved per printer, so a second printer keeps its own figure, and it applies to prints only — the photos guests receive by text, email or gallery link are never shifted. If a strip looks wrong in the digital copy too, the problem is in the template rather than here.
