Run more than one printer
Printing is the bottleneck at a busy event. Add printers and jobs spread across them automatically.
At a busy event the printer is the bottleneck, not the camera. A dye-sub print takes several seconds and guests queue behind it. Adding a second printer roughly halves the wait, because Fotova prints to them at the same time rather than one after another.
How jobs are shared out
Every printer you switch on in SettingsThis devicePrint fleet joins the pool, and each print goes to whichever is least busy. If one printer runs out of paper or drops off the network, its jobs move to another rather than failing.
The Routing control changes how work is shared:
- Least busy — the default, and the right answer almost always. Sends each print to whichever printer has the shortest queue.
- Round robin — strict alternation. Useful when you want even wear across identical printers.
- Fixed — always the same printer. Use it when a second printer is loaded with different media.
Mixed printers need their own settings
Each printer keeps its own edge compensation, because the amount a printer overshoots the paper is a property of that machine. If you run two different models, calibrate each one — a single shared figure would be wrong for one of them, and which prints came out wrong would change from print to print.
